How can I help?

It's time for a new approach. One that challenges you to think differently, freeing you to achieve the things you want most in sport, your career and your personal life.

At Kinda Brilliant, instead of trying to change your thoughts and feelings, I work on changing how you react and relate to them.

This is mental flexibility. It will equip you to adapt to the challenges of life and take positive action, which aligns with your values, rather than being stuck with negative thoughts.

Using the science of psychology, I will help you be the best version of yourself, on a consistent basis.

YOUR CHALLENGES

  • Do you suffer from performance anxiety?

  • Do nerves and self-doubt prevent you from achieving your best?

  • Do you lose focus under pressure?

  • Are you frustrated that you have hit a plateau with your performance?

  • Are you a perfectionist?

  • Do you constantly compare yourself others?

  • Have you lost the joy in your sport?

MY APPROACH

Building mental flexibility will help you cope with all of this, and more. And we can help.

Traditional psychological skills training have one core assumption: in order to perform better, we need to change negative thoughts and feelings. At Kinda Brilliant, instead of trying to change your thoughts, I work on changing how you react and relate to these thoughts.

Why? Because research suggests that trying to self-regulate difficult thoughts and emotions can paradoxically lead to an increase in negative experiences.

THE OUTCOME

By being open to experiencing whatever thoughts or feelings arise, we free up head space and energy to commit to taking mindful, effective action, which aligns with our values.

This is mental flexibility. It allows you to respond to setbacks and stress without being derailed, maintaining your focus on the task at hand. Instead of rigidly clinging to perfection or avoiding discomfort, athletes with mental flexibility can accept difficult thoughts and emotions, refocus on their goals and take purposeful action.

This mindset improves performance by helping you stay in the present moment, bounce back from mistakes, and continuously align your efforts with your values and long-term objectives.

Performance Psychology

We all suffer from anxiety or negative thoughts. It’s how we deal with those thoughts that can be life changing.

Kinda Brilliant applies the same proven techniques and principles that we teach to top athletes, to help you feel more focussed, driven and confident when facing new challenges.

At the core of my approach is psychological flexibility. This is a powerful concept rooted in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which will empower you to adaptively respond to challenges in the workplace, while staying true to your values.

Cultivating psychological flexibility is key to discovering meaning and purpose in life. By fostering a deep sense of purpose and inner peace, you'll gain mastery over your inner world, empowering you to navigate any environment or circumstance while remaining true to your authentic self.

In addition to working with individuals, I also consult with organisations to help them create a a psychologically safe environment, which promotes psychological flexibility and optimal performance.
